Detroit Free Press: Detroit Restaurant Week kicks off Friday with 29 menus, plenty of deals
Detroit Restaurant Week begins Friday and runs through March 3. This promotion is a great way to get a taste of Detroit’s restaurant scene.
Nearly 30 restaurants will be participating.
Participating restaurants will offer prix fixe three-course dinners ($39 or $29 per person). Some will offer other menus and more choices.
Among those participating is La Noria Bistro, the restaurant located in Southwest Detroit that opened in 2018 and was just named to the Detroit Free Press Best New Restaurants list. Like its sister restaurant El Barzon (also participating), La Noria serves Italian and Mexican, but more on the casual side, with a menu of wood-fired pizzas and Pueblan street food. La Noria is offering the $29 menu, with 10 items to choose from.
Restaurant Week is a way to scan menus looking for dishes you’ve always wanted to try. There’s crispy pork belly paired with barbecue lentils, apple, cheddar and rapini from Grey Ghost. Entrees at the Rattlesnake include an herb-crusted 10-ounce prime rib with celery root gratin and wild mushroom ragu. If you’ve never tried branzino, a Mediterranean sea bass, Cuisine in New Center is serving it whole and roasted, paired with lemon brulee, lemon barley and braised fennel.
Restaurants offering a $39 menu are: 24 Grille, Andiamo Italia Riverfront, BESA Detroit, Central Kitchen + Bar, Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails, Cliff Bell's, Cuisine, Downtown Louie's Lounge, El Barzón, Empire Kitchen & Cocktails, Grey Ghost Detroit, La Dolce Vita, Lumen Detroit, Mario's, Maru Sushi & Grill, Parc, Red Dunn Kitchen, Roast, Savannah Blue, The Grille Room at the Detroit Club, The Rattlesnake Club, Traffic Jam & Snug.
Participating restaurants listing a $29 menu are: Common Pub, Gather, La Feria Spanish Tapas, La Lanterna, La Noria Bistro, the Block and the Peterboro. For complete menus and reservation information, go to http://www.detroitrestaurantweek.com.
